I work on the ecology, evolution and conservation of reptiles and amphibians (and a bit on mammals).

#amphibians (#caecilians and #frogs), #reptiles (#snakes and #lizards) and #mammals. Most of my research revolves around #evolution #populationgenetics #speciation #phylogeny #genomics #ecology #climatechange #conservation #herpetology #biodiversity #scicomm

We are very happy to announce that the 22nd European Congress of Herpetology will be hosted at University of Wolverhampton, UK. We will be launching the website in the coming weeks. Watch this space for info on abstracts, registration etc.

Our PhyloCoalSimulations.jl :julia:package simulates gene genealogies under an extended #coalescent model with #hybridization and gene flow.

I hope it will stimulate more simulation-based studies!

The #network is given in Newick format, and gene trees can be mapped inside the species (or population) network.

Boing!

Another of my favourite red squirrel jumping shots, as the squirrel's body is almost perfectly symmetrical as it makes the jump.

Photographed at a friend's hide in the Scottish Highlands.

@japh it sure is! We only have two more days here before heading to Victoria though

Exclamation marks are great! We should be excited about the work that we publish!!!

Writing should be dynamic, which in turn helps make science more accessible to non-scientists. The old ways of writing papers hamper progress and lead to inaccessibility for the general public because of how dry many of them are to read

On our walk in the Bay of Fires, Tasmania there were lots of skinks, snakes and our first dragon of the trip!

I'm not always excited about the short winter days, but at least I don't have to stay up late to go night rock pooling! The anemones are amazing this time of year, especially in UV light. 😍 🌊
