Happy Earth Day!
One of our local Ventura County, CA events (on the lower CA Central Coast) was at the Camarillo Grove Park Nature Center. So beautiful today with wildflowers draping the slopes of the local foothills. Here are a couple of pics.

We hit the tail-end of this event. The wildflowers were behind us on entry road to the park, unaccessible to stop for pics while driving. Oak trees everywhere.

Just made a new wheat bread recipe. The best so far! So good!!!

Believe it or not, it was on the back of my Bob's Red Mill flour package.

I doubled time of 2nd rise in pans before baking. Then I added a pan of 1/2 cup of water on bottom shelf of oven and had to cook 5 minutes longer in my uncalibrated oven. Otherwise I followed exact instructions.

Recipe as photographed from flour package is on Pic 2 (Recipe Part 1) & Pic 3 (Recipe Part 2).

My Long Island Cheese & Cinderella pumpkins have finished roasting and are pureed. Long Island (dark orange/red is sweet & ready for a bread or pie. Cinderella is smooth and lighter color, ready for a savory dish or soup.

Bagged in refrigerator for tomorrow's recipes.

Pic 4: Packaged purees in refrigerator.

Just finally put my Long Island Cheese pumpkin in oven for roasting. So large that I had to cut in 8th's, scraped out seeds & pulp, then placed on 2 trays, basted with Olive Oil & a wee bit of sea salt to aid the roasting. Each piece weighs 2 lbs.

Roasting pumpkin for use in pumpkin bread loaves & a pie.

Seeds will be roasted later with:
cHarissa
sea salt
olive oil
brown sugar

*Some seeds saved for planting. Pulp in compost.

To follow up on my last post of pumpkin growing video, here are 3 pics of varieties that I used in my Fall display, two of which I'll roast today, & the third one as well, after I finish creating my holiday snowman with another base prop to replace this White Ford Bauer pumpkin currently on the bottom in Pic 3.
