A few days ago I visited, Nehru Place, one of the India's largest computer/ IT / peripherals / business service provider markets. A place for New, 2nd Hand, nth hand, repurposing, repairing , original, ahem-not-original IT things.

A friend helped me find a reliable place to change the keyboard on a Thinkpad E14 early gen. It required the complete removal of the entire computer & some unsoldering & soldering. All done in about 90 minutes. Wow.

Mein Fairphone 3 geht im August aus dem Support. (Was ich ziemlich doof finde, weil es dem Anspruch des Unternehmens zuwiderläuft, lange Nutzungszeiten zu ermöglichen.) In einer Mail heißt es, ich könne ja ein alternatives Betriebssystem nutzen. Weiß hier jemand was dazu und kann einem Laien Tipps geben?

Delighted to have worked out how to #jailbreak my husband's 2012 Kindle and soak test it in bright sun during the London heatwave! Even got a chess app working  

It now uses #KOReader and out of the #Amazon ecosystem. Product lock-in should be illegal. Newest Kindles, like my own, with recent firmware cannot be freed, ... YET.

"Slow down, unwind, and learn the mindful craft of circular weaving. You can take this hobby with you to the deck and the dock this summer!

In this 2 hour beginner weaving workshop, you will learn how to incorporate yarn and textiles in a circular weaving. Carmen will provide all the supplies, you just have to show up! No previous weaving experience is required.

Instead of hand or power tools, you’ll be working with weaving tools — simple, tactile instruments that invite you to slow down and connect with the rhythm of making by hand. You’ll learn a series of fun, approachable techniques to create your own unique woven artwork.

The practice and pleasure of circular weaving is one that invites a calm state of mind. This workshop focuses on the positive mental health benefits of making things by hand and will give people the skills and interest to take this fun project home with them and hopefully keep working on other weaving projects in the months to come."
