I am still procrastinating on finishing the "real" version of the previously shared tiered dress muslin. 60% done but we had issues with a gaping bodice when fitting. So of course I started another project. Somebody is heading to a wedding next wknd and wanted something colourful. I had a thrifted 1980s pattern in my stash. Size 14=8/10 today. Cute sundress features an invisible back zip, fitted bodice with princess seams and a bias cut skirt with hidden pockets. There is also a matching bolero jacket.
As I try to overcome my yrs long fear of zippers, this dress was also meant to be a muslin hence the reason that I did not match patterns. BUT I like it and am keeping it as the true version! Wrong side of fabric is orange with red so I could have gone either way when choosing right and wrong sides of the fabric. Letting it hang overnight before sewing a blind hem and stay stitching the bodice lining down. 80% done. I may knock up an accompanying Japanese knot bag but in orange/red. The bolero is unlined so I may give it a miss.
The fabric was thrifted and although not heavy and can hold the bias "swing", it may have been drapery fabric? As I say that, all I see in my mind is Carol Burnett in her Went With The Wind sketch. Curtain rod and all 😂
