#ScribesAndMakers 1. How many creative projects do you have going right now?

Kind of three. Chronicles of the Realms Book 1 (+ short stories), World Without Love Book 3, and Valkífor Saga.

But I haven't really toyed with Valkífor Saga in a long while, as I keep my focus on the other two.

#PennedPossibilities 973. How do you select the names of your characters? For you, is there a method?

I choose their names based on meaning (at least for major characters).

That means either searching for real-world names (Briaca, Qinyang...) or creating names based on my conlangs (most of them).

#WordWeavers 1. Your opinion on April Fool's Day & do you incorporate the day into your work?

Once upon a time, as a kid, I enjoyed the day. Now, it's just so... tiresome when people try to prank you because the "pranks" are usually boring and/or malicious, and again, tiresome.

I never incorporated it into any of my works. Do I have fun imagining Sareena pranking her entire family, then them teaming up to prank her? Sure. Maybe a short story someday!

Klein's auto-ratchet made a soft brrtrtrtruum! for each bolt he loosened as he purposely worked slowly going all the way around the lid.

He tried once or twice to whistle a tune to distract himself but to no avail. His mind kept interrupting to rehash the conversation with his older brother. His mind kept trying to work out to what extent Laric was upset. His mind kept pondering how long it would take for Laric to come around.

His mind was making a lot of unhelpful, unproductive noise.

Klein grabbed the edges of the lid with both hands and slowly thumped his head against the container a good four or five times before drawing a breath and letting loose a heavy exasperated sigh.

I just introduced a mercenary company with three non-coms named Leo-<something>.
“It makes life easy: if you need anything done in the Company, just yell for Leo.”

Leo-Keir's given name is actually Zaki... which is Lion in an African language. And one of the other Leos is a blond guy from the fjords.

[I think I am reacting against the rule against giving characters similar names, which is not how real names work.]

It’s Trans Day of Visibility today and we’re sending solidarity to all our trans siblings.

At TransActual we will continue being visible and advocating for the rights of trans people, as we do all year round.

#WordWeavers 31. Fun scene

A glimpse at Bǐng:

“Awww!” Askaly clutched her hands to her chest. “Is that a… how do you humans call it… a panda bear?”
The bear turned to her, black snout twitching. “I am, indeed, a panda bear.”
Her jaw hit the floor. “It—he—the bear speaks!”
Johnny laughed without losing his balance. “And recites poetry as well if you ask him nicely. There’s the risk that he won’t stop, though.”
“A well-crafted poem nourishes the soul as much as bamboo nourishes the stomach.”

On this Trans Day of Visibility, Ashrah wishes to remind all her trans sisters that they are powerful and beautiful and that she always stands at the ready to defend herself and them against each and every bigot who would threaten them because of who they are.
