petals rise
& fall,
cruelly snatched,
trembling with
self-doubt.
Naysayers
whisper you'll
never win,
self-will flies
on pious wings,
a desperate elegy
of what might
have been,
push onward,
take root,
ressurect the
embattled
embers
before they die
