Did an incredibly messy little study the other weekend- used some watercolor color pencils, a few alcohol markers, and some ballpoint pen! Very quick and rough little thing

I’ve been working on this self-portrait longer than I care to admit. The first time I painted it looked exactly like the last, despite a dozen attempts in between. Each time I tried to change it, it somehow returned to where it began. I think I need to return more often to the idea behind it, and not get lost in the color.
