Practically speaking, notmeta.social will need to federate with servers that federate with Meta -- but not Meta.

Why is that?

So that people on Meta-federated servers can easily migrate their accounts to notmeta.social. You see, if we don't federate with those servers, account migration won't be possible. And I want to make it easy for people to migrate over to a server that doesn't federate with Meta.

Nevertheless, notmeta.social will not federate with any Meta-owned servers.

so, the reddit API protest has taken a different direction, now people are uploading gigabtyes of videos to reddit which are just noise. i cannot stress this enough, do NOT run the command ffmpeg -filter_complex "nullsrc=s=1920x1080,geq=random(1)*255:128:128[vout]" -map "[vout]" -t 46 -c:v libx264 out.mp4 in order to generate one of these large video files then upload them en masse in order to slow down their servers, that totally will not help with the protest

Funny how when #BlueSky got the first few thousand accounts all of tech media immediately started tripping one over another covering it and getting a collective aneurysm.  

Meanwhile, #Threadiverse gets ~70k accounts over 2 weeks, and (with the fine exception of #Techdirt) not a peep.

.art has been unblocked because it was a bad decsion from my part to block the whole community instead of the nasty admin..

Unblocked the domain and suspended the admin

I'm afraid it's only a matter of time before that admin is gonna look for things to ban us

I'm gonna have to start unfollowing people. I get that #Meta and their vague plans for a project in the Fediverse have many people on edge. If you wanna plan to block them on your instance then more power to you. Where you lose me is when you exploit the situation to go on pontificating screeds and pre-emptive blocking sprees against any instances who chooses not to. Especially if you have a history of pulling this BS long before Meta even entered the picture.

Which is a 100% factual statement.

So I guess I should ban myself for saying something blatantly true.

@SweetAIBelle They also block an instance if they don't block they're recommends..

And they publicly shame it all in a blog.. not really about the info but more like a public shame wall or something
