I am not at all computer savvy, and a brand-new user of Linux. I got Linux installed by a computer tech and brought my computer home, and the first thing I wanted to do was connect my speakers so I could listen to an audiobook while I ate supper, and AARGH! Help! I posted the problem here, and a person from the other side of the world kindly spent 20 minutes walking me through troubleshooting steps and got my speakers up and running! Such helpfulness from one total stranger to another!

Anyway, what you want is some combination of reading music, using tablature, and learning by ear. Doesn't require anything fancy: four strings, some frets, maybe a knob or two....

...I kinda love our little square of Net. We need to fix our racism problems, there's a preponderance of frequently conflicting individual standards and the learning curve to be happy with quality interactions over quantity can be steep. I hope we keep learning, but I still really like it. <3
