Uh hi, I'm Ellie (She/Her)! I'm just a lurker trying to figure her way through the Fediverse at the moment―so, uh, please be patient with me. I'm not exactly the greatest with people, so I tend to be quiet and lurk a lot, but I'm pretty excitable and affectionate once I start feeling comfortable!

A little background about me: I'm a 24-year old sapphic, Asian-American, AuDHD trans woman with a passionate curiosity and drive for art/drawing, gaming and game development, writing and reading, sciences and humanities, anime and manga. I've been on HRT since June 6-7 2022 and I'm self-diagnosed since not only the evidence for my being AuDHD can't be explained by any other disorders―it's also so difficult to get a proper autism and ADHD assessment from reliable professionals these days.

I'm primarily used to reddit―I never used Twitter, I don't even know the "proper" way to use hashtags, please forgive any missteps―so, uh, I'll need some time to adjust to this new environment. But I'm hoping to explore the rest of the Fediverse and carve out my own niche!

This is basically a more comprehensive list of my intersecting identities/things I'm interested in:

@Nadlie7 I think your hashtags were great, good job :)

Welcome! I hope you enjoy it here!

@Nadlie7 welcome, come for the laughs, stay for the raccoon pics.. 🥰
@Nadlie7 Hey! Welcome! I hope you find it good here :)
@Nadlie7
I’m not quite sure how this whole thing works yet either, but you showed up in my feed, so I’ll give you a follow!

@Nadlie7 Hello. Welcome to the Fediverse.

Usually your feed will be pretty empty until you start following people and a few hashtags. You can use your local feed to find people with similar interests to follow that share your instance.

If you click on all those hashtags that you've listed, there is a button to follow them.

Also tagging your posts with hashtags allows people that follow hashtags to discover you (That's how you showed up on my feed).

If you never used twitter before, I would say you're off to a good start.

@Nadlie7 welcome! Glad to have you! I'm not sure there is a right way to use hashtags, but I know the community here cares about accessibility, so we like to use alt text, and to make hashtags more screen reader friendly we try to CamelCase them. I hope that helps and that you enjoy your time here!
@Nadlie7 *waves* Welcome! 🚲 🧁 🧪 ⚗️

@Nadlie7 Welcome to the Fedi~

For getting used to things around here, @feditips can be a good account to follow. Of course, if you have any specific questions, I and probably most everyone here would be more than happy to help out

@Nadlie7 @yonabee You're doing pretty well! And don't be afraid to chime in to any conversation or thread. Everyone is very friendly here 💕

(Edit: "pretty well", was on a shaky bus and didn't see that it didn't get the "well" 🤭)

@Nadlie7 Welcome! I hope you find a great corner of this place to comfortably lurk in. :)
@Nadlie7 I'm in the same boat, I just joined this morning after lurking on Mastadon for ages, and leaving reddit after it unexpectedly became a burning trashpile. Never have, never will, never want to use twitter either. Good luck with our journey, huh! :)
