I want to tell parents of trans kids under attack in the red states something:

This is simply horrifying. Like you, we can't understand how any politicians could stoop so low as to attack the most vulnerable among us.

You are strong, and we will fight for and beside you. And though we may lose these initial battles, your love and strength will help win this in the end. I know that to be true.

Young people are NOT being groomed to be gay or transgender. Parents are not promoting this choice.

It is a very difficult situation for both parent and child as adolescents struggle with gender identity and sexuality as teens.

Please understand that “gender-affirming care” is really just “person-affirming care” that helps struggling kids through difficult times (and possibly preventing suicide in the worst case).

How can politicians attack the most vulnerable among us?
They promote a dialog of hatred directed at a small group of "others".

Germany started 90 years ago, in 1933 by rounding up Jews.

I would say that the USA started in 1942 with what happened to you and your family, but I think I must acknowledge what started here in 1619 with the importation of slaves.

Singling out any group in a society is antisocial and undemocratic.

@michllemalone Florida is literally crafting laws that will make it a capital offense to be trans in public. That's not hyperbole, they are doing it. They want to make it a death-penalty crime to commit a sex offense in the presence of a child, and they want to make dressing in a manner other than your gender assigned at birth a sex offense. This is not theoretical. This is a new round of Nuremberg laws designed to erase trans people. It's genocide. That's what he means.

@georgetakei I watch the program "I Am Jazz". I have watched every episode since it started. It's about a boy that knew when he was 4 yrs old that he was in the wrong body. He is now a full female & attending Harvard University! Everybody should watch that. It would open eyes to what trans is really all about.

The methods that seem to work against GOP bigots is: Lawsuits bankrupting them; Shutting down their companies using every means possible (sabotage/boycotts/etc) because these companies give money to their politicians; And picketing these politicians homes, restaurants, churches & other places they attend!

@georgetakei the attacks on reproductive rights and the LGTBQ community are the result of an internal struggle within the GOP between mainstream conservatives and Christian Nationalists. It is going to be a rough couple of years until 2024, but I believe that the next election cycle will force the GOP to expunge the far right elements of their party if they want to survive. In the mean time the DNC will regain control over the House, the Senate and the White House.

MT GOP called it an insurrection, called the SWAT team, arrested 7 people, and evacuated the Governor from the Capitol.
