On Twitter it took us almost 5 years to reach to 50,000 followers.

Here at Mastodon we may be able to do it within one month.

Support our mission & amplify our voice.

@auschwitzmuseum "Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it" This account helps us not forget.
@auschwitzmuseum
I didn't even know you were there. The algorithm is just stupid. But I didn't look for it either.
Here I just discovered you in the timeline.
On Twitter, you only bumped into Nazis.
Sorry for the bad English. Translated with the keyboard. My English would be even worse.
@mrxlix @auschwitzmuseum it translated fine. I dread to think what twitter is like now. I get some updates from my son whose friends at school are watching it change, very much for the worse. My phone ditched it for me by deciding it was an unsafe site. However I'm happy because I'm here and found the @[email protected] site. History learning family 🙂.
Apologies I have forgotten my German 🤦
@auschwitzmuseum as a Millennial myself, I've heard of Auschwitz, Mathausen, Dachau and Buchenwald, I've acknowledged that 6 million Jewish Europeans were murdered by Nazis and I acknowledged the reality of the Holocaust. Shame on those who deny the Holocaust and shame to my fellow millennials for lacking the knowledge. Merry Early Christmas! Cheers from Switzerland 🇨🇭🇨🇭
@Jeanclaudejunior @auschwitzmuseum
Iv met a few folk who were youngsters in kamps. One dear lady asked me to pray for her when she was dyIng and it seemed to me wrong- I told her she should pray for me.
I wont tell anyone the rest of that moment in t ik me- they wouldnt believe me; but suffice it to say I see her as a Saint whose passing was in a golden light.
It angers me that people now try to deny that any of that happened.
@auschwitzmuseum Happy to help you reach more people!
@auschwitzmuseum I’m glad to hear that. I hope it’s for the good of humanity. Thank you for keeping their memories alive, and for reminding us to always fight for the good of humankind!
@TheodoreSeuss Thank you. We are able to reach so many people only thanks to such incredible help of our followers. We are grateful for amplifying our voice.
@auschwitzmuseum I initially found you through a tweet from Mark Hamill. And I must say that you are one of the most important social media accounts on the planet. Browsing through your feed gives me the same feeling as when I visited Anne Franks house. It is absolutely depressing, and we must never forget.
@auschwitzmuseum Well, my follow request is...still pending.
@wndlb @auschwitzmuseum
That happened to me too, but I cancelled my follow request and tried again, and now I'm following 🍾
@auschwitzmuseum
It’s much easier to get engagement on Mastodon.
@inklings @auschwitzmuseum Also, the more discerning people are all here.
@auschwitzmuseum following there and now here!
@Nazishmunch @auschwitzmuseum post interesting in Roosevelt stuff and people will follow you. I now have more followers in less time now then I acquired in 5 years on Twitter. But followers aren't everything. You need engaged followers. I'll take my 48 engaged followers over 15,000 bot followers.
@auschwitzmuseum When I was young I was always thought "why we would learn about this so often!" Today I understand: we should have learned more about this, so many people forget what happened
@auschwitzmuseum I am glad you choose to be here. It's important to #NeverForget
@auschwitzmuseum shows the different sensibilities of the user bases
@auschwitzmuseum that's amazing!
What you do is so important. Thank you, all of you, for the work you do
@auschwitzmuseum right
I came here as a supporter
@auschwitzmuseum thank you for everything you do, never forget
@auschwitzmuseum you were one of my first in this place. Important to keep the knowledge out there
@auschwitzmuseum
As the daughter of a Jewish refugee who escaped to the UK in 1940, I'm happy to do so. The work you do has always been vital, but raising awareness and dispelling myths today seems more important than ever. Thank you.
#NeverForget
@auschwitzmuseum One of the first patients I cared for as a student nurse was a man who survived Auschwitz. Seeing his tattoo, touched my heart and I made a vow to “Never Forget”.
@auschwitzmuseum it's our pleasure to spread your knowledge in fediverse. Go on bro #antisemitism is something that starts in a no knowledge conversations. Thank you

@auschwitzmuseum I follow you on twitter and just found you here! So glad you are on Mastodon.

Just followed!

@auschwitzmuseum Clearly, the algorithm stood in your way - like it stood in everyone's way. Your mission & voice are crucial!
@auschwitzmuseum didn’t realize I hadn’t followed you yet. Your post make me stop and think about the victims and what they went thru. A few moments out of our day to think about and remember them isn’t much to ask and it’s the least we can do. Thanks for keeping their memories alive.
@steyrshrek Thank you for your kind support. We are able to reach so many people only thanks to such incredible help of our followers. We are grateful for amplifying our voice.

@auschwitzmuseum
I am following you & read all you tweet on the birdsite & anything here.

HOWEVER I would please ASK YOU to use the CW (content warning), each time you post.

This is not twitter.

Many people here can be hurt/harmed by accidentaly seeing posts/pictures etc.

We have many autistic & similar communities here on the elephant site.

You can proyect them by please using the CW tool everytime.

Thank you.

Everything I know about Mastodon – Notes from a data witch

A hastily written guide for data science folks trying to navigate the fediverse.

Notes from a data witch
@GrahamKirk @auschwitzmuseum Not sure I agree, at least not automatically for all posts. Given the nature of this account, triggering material is to be expected and one knows that when following. We should just exercise the discipline not to boost or reply to it. (BTW I believe the poster can disable the boost button.)
@auschwitzmuseum I shall boost you because the world has to remember! Also because Primo Levi is one of my heroes.
@auschwitzmuseum just finished reading The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. Your voice is relevant in today’s time.
@auschwitzmuseum duh. The bird was full of anti-semites
@auschwitzmuseum Following the @auschwitzmuseum is a beautiful and simple way to show solidarity with the fight against #antisemitism #racism #gender #discrimination #cultural & #LGBTQ #Trans #Traveler #Age and all the other #discriminations AS WELL AS the fight FOR #Equality #Democracy
#History #Mastodon #Fediverse
@anneeroper Thank you for your important words. We remember about the history and the human tragedy of Auschwitz in order to create better, safer and more responsible future. We are grateful for amplifying our voice.
@auschwitzmuseum Never Forget! The importance of the work you do cannot be overstated!
@auschwitzmuseum Keep going!!! 🙏🏼
@dan This is our plan. Thank you.
@auschwitzmuseum you do amazing work. ❤️ I’m happy to help share your voice with others.
@auschwitzmuseum What makes the individual stories so moving is that they share birth years with my grandparents and especially my parents who lived full lives whereas those featured perished in such terrible circumstances. #AuschwitzMuseum #Humanrights

@auschwitzmuseum

I followed you on the other site, I am following you here. Thank you for your important work.

I do read all your daily biographical posts and I value them deeply; they are part of my daily presence here. Like many others, I find it hard to click a "like" or "favourite" on these posts, or to boost them individually, but please know that all these biographies are being read and deeply respected.

We remember these lost lives.

#Auschwitz #WeDoNotForget

@auschwitzmuseum I followed you there and was glad to find you here.
@auschwitzmuseum fantastic achievement in such a short space of time!
@auschwitzmuseum Due to the size of the account, it would be a good thing to create an instance just for that, IMHO.
@elshid @auschwitzmuseum
In case you want to check out: weremember.social is an instance for organisations like the museum, you can find many interesting accounts there.
@auschwitzmuseum
Good to know. And thank you for keeping the memory alive. This is such an important task, especially now, as the last survivors that told their stories are leaving us.
@auschwitzmuseum
I had to mute on the birdsite because the account was inaccessible there (no alt text etc).
It's awesome to have access to your posts here. So in case you wonder if it makes a differnce: It does! Thanks for the work you're doing. It's more than important to remember, especially in times like these.
@auschwitzmuseum different audience. A more appropriate audience? Maybe?

@auschwitzmuseum So glad your page is getting the support that it so richly deserves. We as a society need to be reminded of the horrors that can occur when good people remain silent and do not hold others accountable for hate, bigotry and racism.

Thank you for keeping a candle burning all these years!

@auschwitzmuseum I support and amplify your voice. We stand as one for the memories of our people and the ongoing need in this world for peace. Never again should such things happen to any of our fellow human beings
