How to switch to the Fediverse and take as many people with you as you can (provided you have followers elsewhere):

1. Set up an independent website, if you don't have one (ideally self-hosted or hosted by people you know personally and trust - definitely not hosted in the US or by a big corporation or in their cloud) and link to it from all your social media accounts.
2. Do some research to find a good fit for a Fediverse instance (don't just join mastodon.social).
3. Set up your account there, change the settings to your liking (there is a spectrum from maximizing visibility to maximizing privacy), fill your profile, make an introduction post (with the hashtag and more hashtags representing your topics of interest) and pin it to your profile.
4. Link your Fediverse profile on your website.
5. Request archives of all your data on all your other social media accounts and download them, delete your accounts and request all data to be deleted - first posting about moving to the Fediverse is probably useless, as it'll just get you shadowbanned.
6. Make a blogpost or create a page on your website announcing your move to the Fediverse and add a guide on how to join the Fediverse.
