Republican Rep. Mike Flood faces criticism over Trump policies at Nebraska town hall

Republican U.S. Representative Mike Flood of Nebraska faced intense scrutiny during a town hall meeting in Norfolk, where constituents repeatedly challenged him over his support for policies associated with President Donald Trump. The event, reported by NOTUS and CNN, highlighted growing frustration among attendees regarding federal spending priorities, foreign policy issues, and domestic economic concerns. Voters confronted Flood on a range of topics, including a controversial $1.8 billion Department of Justice compensation program that critics described as a “weaponization slush fund,” as well as broader concerns about rising food and gas prices. Some attendees questioned how the federal government could justify spending on projects such as White House renovations, immigration enforcement initiatives, and other large-scale infrastructure or security expenditures while everyday costs continued to rise for ordinary citizens. Flood was also pressed on foreign policy matters, including the Iran conflict, allegations related to President Trump’s ties to Jeffrey Epstein, and discussions about potential U.S. actions involving Greenland. In response, Flood rejected the idea of a U.S. invasion of Greenland and stated he would meet with the country’s ambassador in early June. Regarding the DOJ fund, he expressed skepticism and emphasized the need for congressional oversight before supporting any related measures. When questioned about the Epstein files, Flood argued that if any incriminating evidence involving Trump existed, it would have already been released by previous Department of Justice leadership. The town hall underscored increasing political tension, with CNN noting that similar confrontations may become more common as lawmakers return to their districts ahead of upcoming election cycles.

Today's neat thing: the Canadian Women's Chamber of Commerce recently submitted a proposal to the Major Projects Office to include care as a nation-building project and for #care to be included as #infrastructure. They're having a town hall on May 28 & I'm dying a bit inside because it's at the exact same time as another commitment so I can't attend - but if you have time, you can!

MPO Proposal - Canadian Women's Chamber of Commerce

NATION-BUILDING PROJECT PROPOSALCanada's Missing Major Project: A National Care Economy Strategy ABOUT THE PROPOSAL Canada treats roads, pipelines, ports, and power systems as nation-building infrastructure but ignores the systems that allow people to go to work in the first place. Childcare, elder care, home care, mental health supports, disability services, and caregiving supports are economic infrastructure. Without them, Canada’s workforce, ...

Town Hall, Zamość, Poland

It is the central building of the Old Town, constructed in a Mannerist-Baroque style. Its construction began in 1591 based on a design by the Italian architect Bernardo Morando. Originally, the town hall had a more modest form—the tower slightly protruded into the market square, and the front façade aligned with the northern row of tenement houses. Around 1605, the tower had to be reinforced due to the risk of collapse.

The largest expansion of the building took place between 1639 and 1651, probably under the direction of Jan Jaroszewicz and Jan Wolff. During this time, the town hall gained a third floor, decorative Mannerist façade ornamentation, attics, and small corner turrets. The tower was heightened and equipped with a characteristic dome reminiscent of Renaissance design.

In the 18th century, monumental fan-shaped stairs leading to the main entrance were added to the front, and the tower was supplemented with a clock dating from 1770.

For centuries, the town hall served administrative, commercial, and judicial functions, remaining an important urban and visual element of Zamość’s market square.
