The Future of Work: Compulsory, by Martha Wells

โ€œMy risk-assessment module predicts a 53 percent chance of a human-on-human massacre before the end of the contract.โ€

Just received another issue of the free German magazine 'fluter', which is aimed at teens like my son. This time, it's all about apprenticeships and learning a craft. The editor specifically mentions that many magazines like theirs could be written by AI soon. But AI won't be able to restore a valuable work of art or be a good chiropodist (at least not yet!).

It's an interesting read and a sign of the times.

And if you're wondering what's happening to the poor bloke's head on the cover: he's getting a traditional ear piercing with what looks like an old nail. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Why? In Germany and other European countries, apprentices used to walk from town to town to learn their trade. (This journey was called "die Waltz".)

Before they set off, they'd get a gold earring, so they'd always have money in case of emergencies (or for their own funeral).

The magazine is free to download. Have a look!

When asked what their dream job would be, most people express they want to lay in bed all day, watch sitcoms and mindlessly click through Outlook emails, every day. #thefutureofwork #worklife #hybridwork #sarcasm #humor

Here is my #introduction. I am a clinical psychologist that went back to academia and turned professor. My research is in the intersection between clinical, social and work #psychology. Three major topics for the time being: #musicianshealth, #thefutureofwork and #socialanxiety.

I am fond of experimenting with #podcasts #flippedclassroom, #experientiallearning and #simulation in my classes.
