Starting early is crucial for edTPA prep. Align lessons with Common Core, address student needs, encourage participation, and use resources wisely. Mastering edTPA: Resources and Tips for Teacher Candidates - The Teacher Mentor

The edTPA is an assessment for aspiring teachers to demonstrate their teaching abilities. Planning for edTPA should start about two months before the submission deadline, and the chosen lesson must align with Common Core State Standards and cater to students’ specific needs. The video should display active student participation and the use of academic language. Important resources include specific handbooks, school or program resources, the edTPA website, and submission and reporting dates. It is crucial to start early, ask questions, and carefully choose focus students and standards.

Hi! Looking for folks who are educating future educators in a post secondary institution who might be willing to entertain a few questions. Thanks!

Weird aspect of teaching is the unannounced observation. I feel like every lesson has to be perfect because you have no clue with which you will be assessed. Today was far from perfect and of course I was observed. Ready to explain how I could be better… but painful. Truly painful. #stem #edutoots #edutooter #TeacherPrep

One of my goals is to get our book into teacher preparation university #libraries. -Given that our book is the only book dedicated to describing how a public school program for students with significant social, emotional, and behavioral challenges should function, it needs to be accessible to people preparing to teach. -Also for people preparing to be school administrators.

I just completed my 6th term #Ungrading and I have to confess it was the hardest and most contentious. Two key takeaways.
1) Ungrading with a focus on student equity, agency, and learning is a continuously evolving and requires continuous refinement. I think back to traditional grading policies and how easy (yet arbitrary) it was to decide how many points and what structures were accepted for things (i.e. homework policies, test grade % etc..)
2) as I prepare for the next cohort of students and next iteration, I am refining contract grading and being more transparent with course expectations, students' own goals and the activities and tasks in the course designed to meet the learning goals. It has taken much longer than I expected and a great deal of feedback from our entire team to revise this document, and which reflect the required thoughtfulness and reflection needed to progress in ungrading.
Attaching the current iteration of the doc, grade justification will be based on this. Feedback and thoughts always appreciated
