So after two weeks off (had to travel to CO to take care of my aging dad), my #jiujitsu has been better than ever. Great rolls this week.
All the literature says that time off can help like this.
I am also in the middle of a book called The Way of Excellence, by Brad Stulberg, who also cites some studies that show that stress, then rest, is key to improving in anything.
Finally, my Oura ring, that I spent several hundreds of dollars on and which gives me detailed biometrics says I should definitely take a day off today.
SO WHY THE FUCK AM I STRUGGLING WITH THE DECISION ON WHETHER OR NOT TO DO HARD TRAINING ROUNDS TONIGHT?
