By 1998, #AgeOfEmpires was getting a ton of literary love, mainly in the form of guidebooks. This included quite a few German publications, like this one from #SYBEX.
DesertFOXDie spielbare Demo zu "The Secret of Monkey Island" in wunderschöner und originaler EGA-Grafik wurde damals vom SYBEX Verlag als Teil ihres "Lucasfilm Games" Buchs vertrieben und ist inzwischen leider echt nur noch schwer zu finden. Auf eBay gab es nichts, ich musste mehrere antiquarische Buchhändler abfragen, um endlich mal ein brauchbares Exemplar inkl. lesbarer 5 1/4 Zoll Floppy Disk zu ergattern.
Bei dem Buch handelt es sich um die sechste, und wohl auch letzte Auflage aus dem Jahr 1993. Die Demo ist unter DOS spielbar und enthält einen kurzen Plot und einige Szenen, die so nie im Originalspiel zu sehen waren! Ein Scan der Diskette in 600dpi und vollständiges Abbild hab ich euch natürlich gleich ins Internet Archive geladen:

Nach langem Suchen bin ich heute Nacht nun auch endlich über eine deutsche Fassung der legendären "Monkey Island" Demo gestolpert.
Diese Version hier wurde wohl 1990 mit einem alten SYBEX-Spieleratgeber verteilt und ich konnte die 5 1/4 Zoll Diskette glücklicherweise ausfindig machen.
Lustig, dass ich inzwischen schon vier verschiedene Varianten dieses eigentlich einfachen Demos gefunden hab. Englisch, Deutsch, PC oder Amiga. Und jedes Mal gibt es mal größere, mal kleinere Unterschiede in der Optik und den Text-Dialogen.
