Ja, @clim_risk - dieser Widerspruch zwischen fossilen Interessen & Ideologie wird in der #Ökonomie & #Politikwissenschaft unter dem Begriff „Carbon Bubble“ #Karbonblase diskutiert. (Ursprünglich war das v.a. die Gegentheorie zu #PeakOil , aber diese gilt als widerlegt.)
Die #CarbonBubble besagt, dass Eigner auf riesigen Mengen von #Erdöl & #Erdgas als sog. #strandedassets sitzen, die nun von den #Erneuerbaren abgelöst werden. Entsprechend wird die #Energiewende mit brutalen Mitteln verzögert.
Genau so. Der vor allem gefühlte #Wert der #Karbonblase als vermeintliche #strandedAssets sinkt und steigt mit den Preisen für #Erdöl & #Erdgas. Bei dauerhaft niedrigen Preisen geben auch Fossilisten ihre Investionen & fossilen #Lobbyismus auf, verliert der #Fossilismus auch in der #Wirtschaft & #Konzernmedien zunehmend an Rückhalt. Zumal ja auch die #Gestehungskosten für #Solarstrom immer weiter sinken. Die Fossilen sind im #Abwehrkampf.
😍 Der globale #LNG-Markt verändert sich grundlegend mit direkten Folgen für Australien.
Länder wie #Pakistan, #Indien und #China reduzieren ihre Importe, da #Solarenergie und #Batteriespeicher immer mehr #Erdgas in der #Stromerzeugung verdrängen.
Auch in #Europa, #Afrika und #Südostasien werden #LNGTerminals storniert oder kaum genutzt.
-> wachsendes Risiko für #StrandedAssets.

The impacts of fossil fuel emissions are gnawing on Australia's coastline
"Australia's exposure to current and future risks from the sea, including coastal erosion, king tides and rising sea levels, was "very high", The Insurance Council of Australia.
"Sea level rise caused by climate change would mean the issue was not going away, and Australians needed to consider what we valued about our coastline."
"Why a seawall might not protect both beaches and homes from coastal erosion...We'll end up with a giant wall around our beaches, or around our whole coastline. That's not saving the landscape, that's saving the infrastructure. We've got to slow down development and look at what we value about the beach."
Professor Kennedy "said governments would need to consider buying back beachfront land and rehabilitating it, to protect both infrastructure and the beach."
