ASL 2 was the petting zoo. ITP is where the animals grow saber teeth. Ambition, ego, ethics, & bureaucracy all arrive wearing lanyards & asking about practicum hours. Students stop "learning ASL" & start auditioning for identity: advocate, savior, prodigy, paperwork survivor.

A few patterns emerge quickly but none of them are the finished product. Just the recognizable shapes people take while passing through The Machine.

The 2nd Semester ASL Student Typology They survived ASL 1. The strong ones, the fast ones, the ones who kept up while others drowned. But ASL 2? Whole different beast. No more easy drills. I wanted to create website - sign language dictionary.

I have around 3k clips (up to 7 s) with many signs and wanted to generate interactive (rotatable, slowed down or speed up, reversable) animations to publish on website.

At the moment I plan to use MediaPipe Holistic which would generate .json for posture, hands and face movement. Next I want to use RDM, React and Three.js to show model on webpage.

Is there better or more optimal approach to this?

TIL that Valerie Sutton’s SignWriting is also used as an official alphabet for sign languages. Although I was familiar with various forms of choreographers' notation, this detail was new to me.
