Primo via libera dell’aula del Senato al ddl sul contrasto all’antisemitismo, approvato con 105 sì, 24 no e 21 astensioni. Il provvedimento, sostenuto in modo compatto dal centrodestra, da Italia viva e da Azione, ha spaccato il Partito democratico: la linea del gruppo era per l’astensione, ma sei senatori dell’area “riformista” hanno votato a favore, tra cui Graziano Delrio, che sul tema aveva presentato una sua proposta di legge non condivisa dai vertici del partito. Oltre all’ex ministro, hanno votato sì Alfredo Bazoli, Pier Ferdinando Casini, Filippo Sensi, Walter Verini e Sandra Zampa. La senatrice Tatjana Rojc, invece, non ha partecipato al voto pur essendo in Aula.
Il punto più controverso è la definizione di antisemitismo adottata dal disegno di legge, che corrisponde a quella dell’Ihra, l’Organizzazione internazionale per il ricordo dell’Olocausto. La definizione comprende una serie di “indicatori” delle azioni antisemite, contestate dalle associazioni pro-Pal e dalla maggior parte del centrosinistra, che li ritengono generici e ambigui. Nell’esame in commissione il testo base – firmato dal leghista Massimiliano Romeo – sono stati accolti emendamenti di maggioranza e opposizione che hanno cancellato due aspetti molto criticati, ossia il divieto di manifestazioni e le norme penali.

“Alcuni senatori del Pd voteranno il provvedimento non per dissenso con il gruppo, ma perché questo provvedimento rompe un silenzio della cultura democratica, una timidezza del Paese che non ha discusso abbastanza di una emergenza e di un problema”, ha detto Delrio in dichiarazione di voto. “Riteniamo sia meglio fare un piccolo passo in avanti e per questo, per quella assunzione di responsabilità chiesta da personalità come Segre e Ottolenghi, crediamo sia giusto dare fiducia a un testo che dà speranza alle persone giovani, ai ragazzi, che possono dire che il Parlamento è al loro fianco per combattere questa piaga”,

The Senate chamber gave its first approval to the bill to combat antisemitism, passed with 105 yes votes, 24 no votes, and 21 abstentions. The measure, supported in a compact manner by the center-right, Italia viva, and Azione, split the Democratic Party: the group’s line was for abstention, but six senators from the “reformist” area voted in favor, including Graziano Delrio, who had presented his own unshared legislative proposal on the subject, not shared by the party’s top officials. The most controversial point is the definition of antisemitism adopted by the bill, which corresponds to that of the IHRA, the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance. The definition includes a series of “indicators” of antisemitic actions, contested by pro-Pal associations and the majority of the center-left, who consider them generic and ambiguous. In the committee hearing, the original text – signed by the Lega’s Massimiliano Romeo – was amended with changes from the majority and opposition, which eliminated two highly criticized aspects, namely the ban on demonstrations and criminal law provisions.

“Some senators from the PD will vote for the measure not in dissent with the group, but because this measure breaks a silence of the democratic culture, a timidity of the country that has not discussed enough an emergency and a problem,” Delrio said in a statement of voting. “We believe it is better to make a small step forward and for this, for that assumption of responsibility requested by personalities like Segre and Ottolenghi, we believe it is right to give confidence to a text that gives hope to young people, to boys, who can say that Parliament is at their side to fight this plague,”

L'aggressione di due turisti argentini ebrei che indossavano la kippah, avvenuta domenica sera a Milano, con uno dei due che ha riportato la frattura del naso, rilancia l'allarme per gli attacchi antisemiti. "Siamo di fronte a una chiara emergenza antisemitismo", ha denunciato Liliana Segre nel messaggio inviato in occasione della presentazione del 'Rapporto sull'antisemitismo in Italia 2025' del Cdec da cui emerge che lo scorso anno sono stati registrati 963 episodi di antisemitismo nel nostro Paese, di cui 320 sono atti accaduti materialmente, con un aumento del 10% rispetto al 2024, del 100% rispetto al 2023 e del 400% rispetto al 2022.

"Mai", ha aggiunto Liliana Segre, "avrei immaginato che, a 80 anni dalla fondazione della Repubblica democratica ci saremmo trovati ancora a dover combattere questa mala pianta". La senatrice a vita ha rinnovato l'auspicio che "si possa realizzare una convergenza trasversale" sul ddl antisemitismo che, "al di là degli schieramenti e delle collocazioni parlamentari, abbia il respiro di vedere nell'antisemitismo un nemico di tutti".

Sui dati del rapporto, la presidente dell'Unione delle Comunità Ebraiche Italiane, Livia Ottolenghi, ha sottolineato che non si tratta di "semplici variazioni statistiche, ma di una crescita strutturale e preoccupante di un fenomeno che colpisce persone, comunità e istituzioni, minando i principi fondamentali della nostra convivenza democratica". "Di fronte a questi numeri, la domanda non è se intervenire, ma come farlo in modo efficace e tempestivo", ha aggiunto, osservando che la legge in discussione al Senato rappresenta "una risposta necessaria e responsabile".
