The lipidomic architecture of the mouse brain - preLights

Lipids get the space they deserve: Fusar Bassini et al. pioneer a MALDI-MS imaging and computational analysis, bring membrane lipids and their spatial organization to the spotlight and provide evidence of their, previously underestimated importance.

My newest #Prelights article highlights a #preprint by B. R. Baisla et al. (2025) and their search for morphological #prezygotic #barriers to reduce #hybridization among the species complex of #Nasonia, #parasitoid wasps. Male genital morphology apparently does not prevent hybridization, pre-mating #barriers are still unknown.

My + colleagues #prelights #article about the acceptance of #LGBTQ+ biologists in #biologicalsciences based on a #preprint. #Researchers from Arizona (USA) conducted this first specific #survey, coming to the conclusion that gays, lesbians, and bisexuals now feel largely accepted in the biological sciences, unlike about ten years ago. #Gendernonconfirming people are still #lessaccepted.

An interview with preLighter Meng Zhu

21 April 2020 In February our preprint highlights service preLights celebrated its second birthday. To mark the occasion, we met with Cambridge-based preLighter Meng Zhu. Read the interview below, originally produced for our WeChat channel, to find out why Meng came to the UK, her thoughts on preprints and her life in Cambridge as an[...] Read More

New #preLights post from Vibha Singh! 👀

In this highlighted #preprint, the research team (#NalbantLab) introduces a powerful new approach to studying mechanobiological regulation in cancer. In doing so, they describe how tumour cells manage to “pull” themselves away from the tumour bulk during invasion.

Optogenetic stimulation of Lbc GEF-mediated Rho activity dynamics promotes cell invasion - preLights

Tumors break free! More contraction, more invasion.

We’re capturing the energy of #biologists100 by walking around with a polaroid frame, highlighting the incredible early-career researchers at the conference! ✨

We’re kicking things off with @JontyTownson, the #preLights conference reporter, who is uncovering the stories behind the #preprints being presented.

If you're at the meeting, please come say hi + get your snapshot! 📸

I’m really excited to attend the @Co_Biologists Biologists@100 conference next week. With @preLights, I’m collating a preList of all the preprints at the conference. If you’re coming with a #preprint of your own, make sure I don’t miss it by sending it to me here: https://forms.gle/JYiTFj8iSUcTo5o69

Add your preprint to the Biologists @ 100 preList

The preLights conference reporter for Biologists @100, Jonathan Townson, is collating a preList that aims to capture all preprints being discussed at the meeting (either as part of the poster sessions or the (flash/short/full-length) talks). If you have a preprint that you would like to be included, please either complete this form or send an email to Jonathan directly ([email protected]).
