I carefully covered them back up and gave them shade until evening when I uncovered them to try to encourage them to find a new, less-precarious spot

Who understands the grief these riverside blossoms inflict?

I just fear that when the flowers are gone, old age will press upon me.
The densely packed branches will easily shed petals in thick flurries, may the tender leaves consider just opening bit by bit.
