Another example as somebody who is left academia for multiple reasons, but very high up on the list is how shitty academia has become. Chalk another one up to the super rich destroying the thing that makes the modern world modern.

The very richest people in the world are doing this to demonstrate who is subordinate. Science is a structural threat to them, to their authority .

You can’t have science and tyrants.

Being right is boring. It's bland and plain; business as usual. Being mistaken, or even not knowing, on the other hand, is anything but. In the end, it's a gift - because it makes us understand the true nature of things.

That's the tone I'm striking in this never-ending application for a promotion that I should've gotten years ago. Because that's what I want to do in the face of someone (in this case #academia) who have treated me badly: become even more vulnerable, even more real.

In the final months of writing my thesis I relied on IAD resources for information that I simply could not find through my department or school.

Feeling for the staff facing compulsory redundancy; wtf at the UofE so symbolically disregarding academic development.

My wonderful colleagues at the department of #Maths at the University of #Bologna managed to open a call for 2 scholarships (10kE each) for students from #Gaza to relocate to Italy. Students can apply just after enrolling online to a single exam, which is cost-free and easy to do.

It's a drop in the ocean, which still required some bureaucratic magic by them. We hope to soon follow also from other Departments (including mine)
