Petition e-7135 - Petitions

Does anyone know if a petition on #OurCommons can be used to ask for #NHL players to be traded? Because I don’t think #BradyTkachuk should think it’s okay to shout “Close the northern border” to the president and still be allowed to be the captain of the #OttawaSenators. You don’t get to be the captain of the capital’s team and hate this country.

Same with #AustinMatthews. He might be an incredible goal scorer but he doesn’t put that effort in when it matters so he can get out. Fuck that guy. The #TorontoMapleLeafs aren’t going to suddenly win the cup because he’s here so we can get rid of him and see almost no difference.

An update has finally be released, as the petition has been tabled in the House of Commons:

Response by the Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry
Signed by (Minister or Parliamentary Secretary): THE HON. FRANÇOIS-PHILIPPE CHAMPAGNE

The Government of Canada would like to thank the petitioners for expressing their concerns on the issue of the planned obsolescence of video games.

The Government of Canada is committed to promoting the interests and protection of Canadian consumers as well-informed and confident consumers help stimulate competition and innovation in the Canadian marketplace. Federal agencies and departments are responsible for enforcing legislation related to various issues, including: consumer product safety, consumer product packaging and labelling, and anti-competitive practices, such as price fixing.

Additionally, consumer protection is a shared responsibility between the Government of Canada and provincial and territorial governments. On the specific matter of the planned obsolescence of video games, this matter is best addressed at the provincial and territorial jurisdiction given their responsibility over issues related to buying goods and services and contracts.

Sooooooooo tldr... "Not a federal issue, go to your provincial or territorial legislators"....

Stop Killing Games

@GinnyMooy @Paulatics your government realizes that #Twitter is how the Base and Diagolon organized the weeks-long coup attempt in Canada that almost succeeded, right? Second only to Facebook.

Why is #ourcommons and #SenateCA still maintaining presences on these websites? Why has #cdnpoli not taken the example of the #EU's response under consideration?
