Third batch of ripping all of my #music CDs to #FLAC format.
Was about to say "...and Tubular Bells" and end there. But then I realised I had a few video game CDs too. Might as well rip them. Okay. I still have about half of my collection to go, so I guess I need a bit of a rest now. Especially when the rest will no doubt have some headachey entries because there's a few obscure cheapo collection box sets and such.
Weird #archival thought processes:
Okay, so, there's plenty of #audioCD rippers available for Linux. (I'm using K3B for my own CD archival project.)
But, hmmmm... are there still any working #CD rippers on Windows that could rip CDs to WAV (or preferrably FLAC)?

My second day of ripping my #CD collection to FLAC and making sure I get all metadata right.
One of the things I *didn't* rip was a Finnish box set of 5 CDs... from 1989. It's in Discogs, but there's not a whiff of it in MusicBrainz. I may need to learn how to submit this stuff after all.
Today I started the biggish job of ripping all of my #music CDs to #FLAC format.
My previous ripping style: I ripped the music to Ogg Vorbis or something as I went. No real concern for metadata accuracy and stuff.
Anyway, now, the idea is to rip the CDs to FLAC (which can then be converted to whatever I need with no compounding quality loss), making sure all files get the actual real #MusicBrainz release data (and not just "close enough" matches). I guess I should also archive the Enhanced CD content.
So far it's going great! 28 CDs down, and only 2 have had MusicBrainz problems (one missing album cover art, one seemingly entirely missing release of an album that does exist in the database). ...I get the vague feeling that the missing album art was missing last time when I was ripping this stuff. Should fix that.
Don't mind the music selection in the screenie, this was just random stuff from the shelf.

After screenshotting, archiving & keeping metadata on my curated Palm OS apps project, I'm giving #WindowsMobile #PocketPC some love with its first 10 games I added on my list (not all of them shown in the screenshots).
