I haven't been particularly active on @openstreetmap lately. I'm planning to add some smaller contributions via @streetcomplete and @vespucci_editor on the go over the next few weeks. As usual, mapping is more fun when you're traveling through "unknown waters". Here's a screenshot of my starting point. I'll keep you posted about my progress.
By the way: #osmandroid worked pretty good for me lately (used it mostly in large towns, though)
Today, on my 4 kilometres hike home on a bike path, where no #Google #StreetView car had gone before, I added a bunch of streetlights (and some outdoor gym machines) to @openstreetmap via the @vespucci_editor app.
It feels satisfying to know, that I could contribute some information, that might at some point be useful to hikers and cyclists unknown to the area... plus, it should have been a nice boost to my #OSM scoreboard. ;)

#Meta, #Microsoft, and #Amazon have launched their open-source mapping project
In other words, big tech reinvents #OpenStreeMaps so they can control something with the words "open source" in the description.
And to make matters worse, Bing Maps and other products pulled a lot of their data from Open Street Maps in the first place. I have contributed a bit to OSM, but will not be contributing to Overture.

@Milkman76 Well put. I absolutely agree. It is encouraging to see attempts at alternatives - #Gopher, #Gemini. And more broadly, #Matrix / #Element, #Signal, #NNCP, #Nextcloud, #ssh, #Syncthing, #OpenPGP / #GnuPG / #GPG, #OpenStreeMaps, and so forth. But obviously, while these are all growing, aside from maybe Signal, they are tiny compared to the spyware we all tolerate daily.
