The lettering on this old, steel plate across the path, is slowly being worn away by decades of passing feet, but you can still make out "Charles Robertson, Richmond Foundry, Pleasance, Edinburgh"

I wonder how many people step over it every day without even noticing this little bit of local history?

@kim_harding Hah, I used to be a member of #Merchiston CC and this has been an issue for years.

IMO the problem is not being ignored by council officers, it's that the city's budget is too tight to do anything about it.

There needs to be political direction from the Transport & Environment Committee to divert *very* limited funds from other transport projects, and since it's not an actual bottleneck (yet) and no-one has been killed (yet), it seems unlikely to happen soon.

Met my little chum, the #Merchiston Moggy on the way to work, sitting stop the recycling bin, surveying her kingdom. Got little head bops and she graciously allowed me to give her ear scratches.
