I'm listening to an audiobook called World War Z. The central conceit of the book is an alt-Earth historical ethnography post Zombie outbreak.

The writer of this historical book is interviewing people from all around the world. Every interviewee in the book is someone who can only communicate in stereotypes. And the writing style toward non-WASP cultures is racist. The poor Chinese are idiots, Indians still have a strong caste system, Russians are all power-hungry yet anti-authortarian, and every American is a hero.

There is very little about this book I like. People have often said zombies are a metaphor of the Capitalism/consumerism dialect, but I feel it's a great vector for fascism. If it does eat us, it'll eat itself, and the only way to survive is organise.

Shitty book, hack writer, interesting concept.

Avant le film (médiocre), il y avait un roman (excellent). Comment une épidémie zombie pourrait-elle entraîner la chute du monde tel qu'on le connaît? Sous forme d'interviews documentées, #WorldWarZ décrit minutieusement la politique, la sociologie, les traumatismes engendrés par la première guerre mondiale contre les morts-vivants.

Captivant. Et un poil flippant.

It's basically like #worldwarz by #maxbrooks only w/robots. Fantastic. Also the author sounds like such an interesting person: a Cherokee citizen, a CMU Robotics Institute grad, lives in Portland w/his wife & daughter. I feel like he's probably been thru some shit these past 4 years, wow.

Got my hold on the sequel #RoboGenesis at my library & impatiently waiting now 😊
