Once I was pondering why our Lord was so fond of this virtue of humility, and this thought came to me — in my opinion not as a result of reflection but suddenly: It is because God is supreme Truth; and to be humble is to walk in truth, for it is a very deep truth that of ourselves we have nothing good but only misery and nothingness.

This tendency of #Vance's is helpful to those trying to decipher the firehose of #falsehood spewing from this administration. Despite all #Trump's blathering about a "golden age" (for himself & his billionaire buddies, maybe), most Americans know what they see on their grocery receipts, rent, utility bills, and hyperinflated health #insurance premiums. Vance has no personality, but he sees the Trump train is derailing; his only option to keep what power he has is to switch onto a spur line. So he's breaking with Trump and claiming to side with ordinary Americans on the economy.

Don't imagine he cares about them, only their votes.
