I've been playing #arcradiers since launch on both #ps5 and an 8 yr old #gtx1080 #PC. I can't tell much difference visually between the two, but on my PC I'm CPU (not GPU) bound to about 40 fps, which I can live with.

The fact arc runs as well as it does on an ancient PC is testiment to how much effort the devs put into smooth gameplay. All of the OTHER _gameplay_ glitches however....

Still an excellent game and I still do at least an hour or two every day - its been 5 months!

Heads up to any #arch #linux users utilizing #nvidia #gtx1080 #pascal series or older cards need to read this post prior to updating blindly which can lead to breakage.

Intervention required for Pascal/older users: Users with GTX 10xx series and older cards must switch to the legacy proprietary branch to maintain support:

👉 Uninstall the official nvidia, nvidia-lts, or nvidia-dkms packages.
👉 Install nvidia-580xx-dkms from the AUR

@archlinux Driver successfully changed to use the legacy #DKMS variant. I’m not giving up my perfectly fine working #GTX1080.

#PSA: Don’t forget to install linux-headers, too, when installing the #AUR package for the DKMS variant of the driver.

(I forgot that and was stuck with 1024x768 resolution, oops 😄)

You can check if the module was loaded with dkms status:

% dkms status
nvidia/580.119.02, 6.18.1-arch1-2, x86_64: installed

… now waiting for 590 to drop as DKMS package.

@jay Oh it's a pain in the ass and won't launch. I've tried both the #Steam install and the #Lutris #WINE install. Both crash and fail into the #Blizzard crash reporting window. I have run it successfully on #Linux on a #mediapc with a #GTX1080, and my #SteamDeck, but the machine I'm on now is running an #RTX3080. I've tried a few different #distros and #desktop environments too.

I know it can run, but something specific is stopping it running on *this* machine. 🤷

Alla fine è arrivata anche lei e la mia compagna si è presa la 6600XT per buona grazia dei bug di Nvidia con la GTX 1080.
