[arch-announce] NVIDIA 590 driver drops Pascal support; main packages switch to Open Kernel Modules
ππͺπ³π¬@archlinux Driver successfully changed to use the legacy #DKMS variant. Iβm not giving up my perfectly fine working #GTX1080.
#PSA: Donβt forget to install linux-headers, too, when installing the #AUR package for the DKMS variant of the driver.
(I forgot that and was stuck with 1024x768 resolution, oops π)
You can check if the module was loaded with dkms status:
% dkms status
nvidia/580.119.02, 6.18.1-arch1-2, x86_64: installed
β¦ now waiting for 590 to drop as DKMS package.

@archlinux I was planning to install a Pascal today. π
SanskritFritz@archlinux I'm a bit worried because my primary driver lives in the AUR from now on. But it will probably not change too often, so it will just faithfully do its work at every kernel update I guess.
