Kevin SmithA bit more work on the river generator. Many tweaks and refinements to the lake/estuary placement. Many more parameters can now be set via the config file instead of hard coded. It can now do partial runs to just fractalize the coastline and divides so you can adjust them and refractalize until you get something you like before doing the rivers. It also now generates a rough set of watershed polygons.
Here’s an oldie for #ThrowbackThursday! I give you the map of Tristor, which I created for Paleo Gaming. At the time, it was the biggest map I had been commissioned to create. A found memory of a great collaboration!

I often compare my map making process to taking a journey in the world that is being depicted, except that every stage of development enables me to revisit each place a few times, including when edits need to be made. I see a fantasy setting’s lore as something based on tales, rumours, myths and lived adventures!
