Here’s a rare sight - an Edsel. Edsel was a short-lived brand launched by Ford in 1956. Named after Henry Ford’s son Edsel, it was intended to occupy the market territory between mainstream Ford cars and the more up-market Lincolns. Ironically, one reason Edsel struggled and failed was that this gap was to a degree already covered by Mercury, a brand created by Edsel Ford himself in 1939.
