Earlier this year I had shared that my Lenovo laptop was struggling to run Minecraft and Vintage Story, with the later eventually becoming unplayable.
At the time I put this down to thermal throttling. I have since replaced Windows 11 on this machine with a minimal #debian install using #dwl and I now get a solid 50fps in Minecraft (vsynced 60 with optimise mods) and Vintage Story runs at a solid 60fps on high settings.
What magic is this?
#Wayland runs successfully on more things than I think some might realize. For example, I successfully got this #BananaPi set up with #SlackwareARM 15.0, and got my favorite #wlroots compositor, #dwl.
Big thanks to @mozes, the maintainer of Slackware ARM, and all the folks on the LinuxQuestions forum, for putting up with my nonsense regarding getting my Banana Pi to run Slackware ARM and the troubleshooting that came from it. The first BPi had dead SATA, so I bought a new one that works good :)

Playing around with #Wayland, it seems pretty cool. I'm still trying to unlearn some of the #X11-isms, but I managed to get real-time clock and battery updates here on #dwl.
It especially helped that I patched dwl to use IPC.
Also, obligatory #Slackware #Linux fastfetch.
Only problem I've encountered is that j4-dmenu-desktop and Discord no longer launch where they used to. I'll need to sort that out, but the Discord web client and manually executing Flatpak apps works too.
Dit dus. Een magistraal rondje in de mist. Met wel 8+1 deelnemers. Met Richard als nieuweling die in zijn Quest naar www.tourdeals.nl wilt gaan rijden in juni.
