Of course, #Israelāand the entire world Jewish communityāhas an obligation to redeem #captives. In Entebbe, Israel rescued 102 hostages with only 3 hostage fatalities (one of whom was murdered in the hospital in Uganda following the operation), and one military fatality (famously, Yoni Netanyahu ×¢×דש, brother of Bibi).
The Entebbe operation involved about 100 Israeli commandos: roughly the same as the number of #hostages. And of course there was a chance Israel could lose everybody: all the soldiers and all the hostages. But they took the risk in order to deny the #terrorists any benefit from their actions.
Now it seems that we do both: we sacrifice precious lives, strain our relations with the world, and tax the economy ā and in the end, the terrorists get their reward anyway. From the terrorists' POV, that's a pretty strong ROI. 2/
