@polpo Same, but I guess you'd not have started the #PicoGUS project (nor would've @rasteri done the #Wee86 & #WeeCee) if that was always the option.

🚧 Ah, FreeBSD 15's new "bridging" act—brought to you by the same innovators who think deprecating features without a plan is a cool party trick. 🎩 VLAN support? Check. Confusing sysctls? Check. Of course, they graciously leave future headaches to sort out the whole router-on-a-stick mess. 🎉✨

Using The New Bridges of FreeBSD 15

FreeBSD 15 comes with a new bridging implementation which has native support for VLANs. They have also soft-deprecated the ability to have any layer 3 addresses on member interfaces which makes it behave like a real hardware switch. The net.link.bridge.member_ifaddrs sysctl controls this behavior and it will …

This will be of interest to all of five people that words like "bookmarklet" and "bridging" mean anything to, but hey, if that's you, check this out.

Bridgy Fed bookmarklet for Mastodon | Stefan Bohacek

Now, this is a highly specific functionality that all of about five people in the world will want, but if you find yourself, as a Mastodon user, frequently tagging the Bridgy Fed fediverse account with usernames of people and organizations on Bluesky to hopefully convince them to bridge their accounts to the fediverse, this little...

If you are bridging your Fediverse account with https://fed.brid.gy/ to bluesky, you can also make a custom username for the bridged bluesky handle, if you have a domain.
This is my bridged Pixelfed account:

I still have to do this for my Mastodon account...

Bridgy Fed

Bridgy Fed is a bridge between decentralized social networks like the fediverse, Bluesky, and web sites and blogs.

Just dropped a new blog post, classic bridging with ifupdown. Hope some folks find it helpful or intriguing: https://tech.haacksnetworking.org/2025/11/27/classic-bridging-w-ifupdown/ If you have questions, hop over to Matrix https://matrix.to/#/@haacksnetworking:gnulinux.club and hit me up! #floss #freesoftware #opensource #debian #ifupdown #bridging #networking #virtualization

Naive question since I still haven't manage to secure enough time to wrap my head about how #BlueSky is working: is it possible to bridge with #BlackSky without sending data to Bluesky directly?

Maybe @anewsocial would know?

I'd imagine that such a post could then be shared and end up on Bluesky relays eventually but I just want to know if it's possible to have the data initially sent to a BlackSky relay only.

Updated Nov. 1, 2025 with Wordpress information.

The “fediverse” is the term for the federated social web, a collection of social media concepts (Mastodon, PeerTube, Pixelfed, Friendica, Bookwyrm, etc.) that can all talk to each other by virtue of a common protocol: ActivityPub. The technical details don’t matter. What matters is that, in the fediverse, everyone can have a home without paying […]

This is very interesting, and their project Bounce is looking really promising.

Bridging vs cross-posting

When we talk about what we do here, one topic that comes up often is bridging vs cross-posting. They’ve both been around for a long time, and they’re similar, but they’re different in some important ways. Notably, bridging results in more unified conversations, while cross-posted conversations are
