Considering #bridging today and about to jump on some analysis prior to positing an interaction design for improvements toward goals as outlined below.

Biggest question for @Mastodon - where should I engage?

Happy to just sling it all here and you do whatever you deem, but just as easily set artifacts into a project and get into the discourse if that's helpful.

Mostly trying to avoid the splash-down because yeah, I do that even when I don't mean to.... =/

@bsky.brid.gy -

As a user, I would like to set my bluesky bridge account destination so I can use an established account rather than have a new one created.

Likely user error but I intended this account to bridge to @seedsignal.bsky.social but that was not an option that I could see.

Rather created a new account. Suspect if I set seedsignal.bsky.social to follow ap.brig.gy it will make a new account on this instance, which seems... meh.

#Bridging needs interaction design.🖖

I'm still wrestling a bit with your .deb package on Debian 14 (Forky), not a clean install without complaints but #Gossip itself runs flawlessly regardless, and it's blindingly faster than any other desktop client I've tested so far.

A #Debian style repo maintained by the Gossip team itself would really be nice too instead of manually checking for a newly dropped .deb file.

It's pretty enough for me right now, and quite complete, except that #wallet is noticable in it's absence - is that on the roadmap? Amethyst desktop is all in on Tor by default out of the box. Your plans there? Honestly though Gossip looks waaaay better on desktop than #Amethyst, and I had to settle on using an #AppImage for that

Alex has added #Monero (XMR) support in #Ditto in the past few days too. I haven't started testing that yet but will do so shortly - BTW, Monero support in Mitra enjoys native integration 👋🤠

tl;dr: After only recently discovering Gossip last week I'm thoroughly elated. There's no law that says #nostr clients have to be married to #BTC or #Lightning.

Perhaps next on the horizon for many nostr clients is a #bridging feature similar to capabilities pioneered by #Mostr effectively removing perceived demarcations with the #Fediverse?

🚧 Ah, FreeBSD 15's new "bridging" act—brought to you by the same innovators who think deprecating features without a plan is a cool party trick. 🎩 VLAN support? Check. Confusing sysctls? Check. Of course, they graciously leave future headaches to sort out the whole router-on-a-stick mess. 🎉✨

Using The New Bridges of FreeBSD 15

FreeBSD 15 comes with a new bridging implementation which has native support for VLANs. They have also soft-deprecated the ability to have any layer 3 addresses on member interfaces which makes it behave like a real hardware switch. The net.link.bridge.member_ifaddrs sysctl controls this behavior and it will …

This will be of interest to all of five people that words like "bookmarklet" and "bridging" mean anything to, but hey, if that's you, check this out.

Bridgy Fed bookmarklet for Mastodon | Stefan Bohacek

Now, this is a highly specific functionality that all of about five people in the world will want, but if you find yourself, as a Mastodon user, frequently tagging the Bridgy Fed fediverse account with usernames of people and organizations on Bluesky to hopefully convince them to bridge their accounts to the fediverse, this little...

If you are bridging your Fediverse account with https://fed.brid.gy/ to bluesky, you can also make a custom username for the bridged bluesky handle, if you have a domain.
This is my bridged Pixelfed account:

I still have to do this for my Mastodon account...
