A thread on Winter Solstice and my confusion with it.

Being raised culturally Christian but philosophically atheist, this time of year raises a lot of self reflection. Christmas is deeply entrenched in my family's celebration, but the celebrations are far removed from any religious themes. There is a tree, and gift giving, and feasting. But it's more about tradition than ritual.

How much do you shuffle your #tarot deck?

I heard once that 7 riffle shuffles on a standard deck would get the cards to a state of "random." But tarot and oracle decks mostly have more than 52 cards, so I've been shuffling the deck around 10 times before pulling any cards.
Also whomever the reading is for cuts the deck after the last shuffle and before any cards are drawn.

Happy Lughnasadh (LOO-ness-ah) to all my Northern Hemisphere friends! Now is the time for harvest, to reap the seeds we have sown in our lives, and to prepare for the long, dark nights ahead. I'm so grateful for our farmers, and all involved with bringing food to our table. I'm especially grateful for those who have planted seeds in my life for me and my loved ones to harvest.
