Today is the Feast known as #Allantide in Cornwall. It traditionally marked the first day of winter, or Kalan Gwav. An important part of this festival was the giving of Allan apples, large glossy red apples that were highly polished as tokens of good luck.

When Rishi Sunak says he's on your side, what he means is that he's going to cancel loads of public transport projects, forcing more cars on to the roads and making all your journeys even more congested and miserable than they already are.

You'll be stuck in a traffic jam, but, please, do enjoy the freedom Sunak has given to you.
