This is a new account but I've been around for a few months now. I'm keeping things anonymous because the US is a flaming fascist shitshow and I don't trust that some dumb meme I boost won't get used against me.
So anyway... I'm escaping enshitification and seeking a return to the Internet of 2001. I'm interested in a lot of stuff including social science, costuming, permaculture, activism, DnD. And I'm finally learning to code!
I boost things I like and things that I think need to be seen.

🧑‍🍳 We are cooking...switching away from Big Tech.

This #DiDay join us in prepping the feast, all you need is:
🥫 a handful of alternative platforms
🧂 a pinch of conscious choice
🫂 the support of your community

The process is simple: ditch the platforms that aren’t aligned with your values & don’t serve you, join the ones that respect your rights.

Prep time is short, but enjoyment is ever-lasting – chef’s kiss guaranteed 🧑‍🍳 🤌

Digital Switch Recipes — Digital Independence Day

On the first Sunday of each month we organise Digital Independence Day. This is when we reclaim our digital freedom and switch to democracy-friendly digital alternatives.

IS THIS ANYTHING
Never let anyone try to talk you out of a quick half hour DIY project. Those three hours will be the best six days of your life.

This year, for the first time, I waded across the river. The water was cold as you’d expect in the spring. Once my feet got used to it, I waded upstream along the gravel banks avoiding the deep spots. People don’t go there anymore; there are only animal tracks in the sand. A hornet flew by confidently navigating across the river. Several large animals passed through the forest along the bank; against the sun, I couldn’t tell what they were. They didn’t notice me. I love it.

i object to the whole "90s nostalgia is just cause you were a kid and unaware of how terrible everything was" because yeah, maybe

but in the 90s what nazis did was still very much living memory and people knew what you do to them. also technology actually was a source of life improvements and optimism instead of whatever the fuck this techno-fascist hype cycle bullshit we have now is

my home country the netherlands hadn't been hollowed out by decades of neoliberal bullshit

i could keep going

In my futile quest to get more people to make mosquito traps for their yards, I made a visual. Please share with friends and sneak into any presentation you're giving even if it's completely unrelated to mosquitoes. Mosquito Dunks contain Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis ("Bti"), a bacteria that is safe for everything except mosquito larvae, work for approximately 30 days, and are available at most garden centers and hardware stores in North America. Bti-containing powders and liquids are sold worldwide under different trade names. NB: the white lid helps you see mosquito larvae (if present it's time to add another dose of Bti). #mosquitoes #mosquito #ipm

is this too much to ask for?

This is a ten minute exposure of a comet, specifically R3 PanSTARRS. Look at the utter mess Musk and his buddies are making of our night sky, and they're only getting started. There are currently around 10,000 Starlink satellites in space. Musk wants to increase that number to one million.

Follow @sundogplanets for up to date info on satellite pollution and some charming goat news.
