@bbt I took photos with a canon 6D which is like 10 years old now. Then I used #alicevision #meshroom https://alicevision.org/
It's free and opensource. I then imported it to #Blender to cut out the bad sections. From there I used #NX to design but I've also used #freeCAD before for that.
#Meshroom is a fantastic #opensource #photogrammetry tool created by #AliceVision that enables artists and non-artists to take a heap of photographs and get a textured 3D model out of that in a reasonable time.

There's only one problem - it requires #CUDA and hence - an nVidia GPU.
It is possible to allow #AMD GPUs to work as well. It'd require some funding though. I'd be happy to donate to this cause.

#AliceVision is a #photogrammetry framework.
AliceVision is a set of programs and libraries for dealing with photogrammetric datasets. AliceVision's main program is #Meshroom, a node-based program that constructs textured #3D models from a set of pictures orbiting around a real world object. Meshroom features an intuitive interface and can create very high quality 3D models from modest datasets.
