Today, the last photos with the Olympus Trip 35... I'm finishing with three photos in one day. Two recent "test" photos taken during theatre performances and one photo from the archive. I recently had this one printed in A2 format and I'm looking forward to an exhibition in our village. The on-stage photos were taken with the aperture set to 5.6 and the distance estimated, of course.


I’m not someone who just shoots away indiscriminately,
film is precisely there to make you think about an image, not to burn through rolls of emulsion.

And have thoughts about exhibitions...

I always have doubts about how photography is displayed in frames on a wall, where your work, into which you have put so much time and love, is viewed distractedly and then forgotten. Guerrilla exhibitions seemed an interesting idea to me. The small photograph was displayed where it had been taken a few months earlier... The photograph within the photograph was taken with an Olympus Pen half-frame camera, and the photograph itself with an Olympus Trip 35.

About four years ago, I suddenly managed to pick up a Canon F-1 for a fair price near a theatre
(we were on tour at the time). I loaded this heavy beast with #ilfordhp5 film and gave it a test run.

what surprised me is that it’s actually a camera you can open up wide,
shoot at 1/30 sec and still get perfectly decent photos.
Once a pro, always a pro.

Afsnee morning after the jungle party...
And then this accident happened with an image from my Canon AE-1…
I got an unwanted double exposure and was completely surprised by the result — so much so that I actually started searching for it. When I later picked up my A1 and also a Chinon CE-4, I could really experiment and discover how to control a double exposure.
After a while I mastered it so well that you could no longer even see that I had used the effect (and then no one found it interesting anymore ;)

The photographer…
Back in "the village".
When I took this photo, I remember there wasn’t much appreciation from the people involved — more a kind of tolerance.
Sometimes I try to capture moments of what’s happening in the community around me.
The strange thing is that everyone is constantly taking pictures with their phones, and that’s perfectly accepted, while a real camera often draws suspicion.

This image suddenly became meaningful when one of the people in it passed away unexpectedly… Photography is also a form of archiving — and it certainly doesn’t need to happen that fast.
