My #PhotoMonday is in my #WritingRoom: a 1950s floor lamp that was in my parents’ house growing up. It’s wonderful to sit and read here.

Also, it proves that #actors need a paycheck.
To be a fly on the wall when Tony Shaloub was told "you'll be playing alongside a monkey in this episode"... or when any actor was told that.
It started in the 60s and became one of these mainstay low hanging fruits for executives to hoist over the poor schmucks in the #writingroom. "This'll do well with the family demographic!"
Need a quick, cheap and easy #film or #TV episode? Just add a monkey - one that isn't in a suit and taking bonuses.

I was chatting with some #writer friends about writing sweet spots - the hours where the words come the easiest. One was a late night writer, another preferred afternoons. My sweet spot starts around 9am.

More #pacing thoughts in #story: #pace is about how and when revelations unfold. (Unfolding/ withholding deserves its own thread.)
On a technical level, and borrowing from Joan Silber, #time passes:
1) in #scene, which is 1:1 to #reader's time, e.g. "They pinched a chickpea";
2) in #summary, which condenses time, e.g. "A year passed"; or
3) what she calls "#habitual time," which feels scenic, but describes action over a period of time
