Or maybe it was thanks to the emergence of #ChatGPT, they had a real chance to create something truly high-quality, overcoming barriers to access to knowledge?

raprietary adj, proprietary, but it doesn't start with the 'pro' syllables, which makes it sound good, and instead starts with "rape"

In a sentence:* "I don't allow raprietary devices like that DSL modem to be used in my home."

@thejikz @actuallyautistic Why thank you ☺️. And also thank you for inspiring this short burst of #poetry #wordsmithing

a quick-access pack
encapsulates my lacks,
going forth and back
beneath my feet, the track,
a steady pace through ramshackled hacks,
a trip of traipse, tread, and relax

A tough toil,
In untrod soil,
Hit a few roots,
Had a few hoots,
Something created a great path,
(An energy blast yeilding a fast gash slash of machete and hedge trimmer en masse,
A flury of measuring, CAD, tapes, and a rebar cap at last!
It was a veritable forest smash,
Shovels, rocks, sticks, then CRASH!)
End mild fugue state, I liked the aftermath.

Thank you for a bump of inspiration!

Pretty sure this is insanity, right?

It is clear to the Steering Council that theoretically, a no-GIL (or free-threaded) Python would be of great benefit, and the majority of the community seems in agreement. Threads have significant downsides and caveats, but they are widely adopte...

New word:

/fost/ - the feeling of being lost or without a clear path as a result of sticking to #FOSS principles of #computing. "I couldn't find an ethical firmware for that device and now I'm fost." "There are so many ways to do it but don't get fost."

Quick exchange from a #w3c meeting to progress on drafting an aspirational document:

> koalie: I wanted to propose [to replace "ensure" by] "foster"
> several: I like that
> document editor: I like it. I wonder how that rings to non-native English speakers?
> koalie: You mean people like me? :)
