Weekly Update #240
Hello Readers.
To start with, I wish to apologize to the knitting community.
A few months ago, I had added the tag “Knitting” to a weekly update because I was working on a knitting project. I removed it after that project was done, but the blog added it back to the announcement about updates. Until someone brought it to my attention, I was totally unaware this was being done.
Now, I have started two knitting projects. The first is a Dr. Who type scarf for my youngest in her school colors. The second, is one of two Christmas stockings for my Brother’s grandchildren. I’ll post some pictures of them in a later update.
For those interested, I’m using the “Old Fashioned Christmas Stocking” pattern from Candide Yarns. It is one I got from my Grandmother and always seems to be a big hit.
I’m still feeling drained from the pollen and only made a little progress in writing or editing.
There is a book fair in Columbus this weekend that Kathy and I will be attending, so watch out for updates from it.
Finally, check out my latest VLOG.
That is it for this week, take care everyone.
Interesting in buying one of my books? You can get more information here.

What are the best books on writing literary fiction?
From Google AI:
The best books on writing literary fiction focus on the nuances of prose, emotional resonance, and character-driven pacing. Top recommendations include Janet Burroway’s Writing Fiction for narrative craft, Anne Lamott’s Bird by Bird for the creative process, and Donald Maass’s The Emotional Craft of Fiction for deepening reader impact. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
These highly recommended guides for literary writers are broken down by their primary focus:

The Writing Life & Creativity
Meant to post this yesterday, but...
Draft two of Rise of Iron is COMPLETE! 🥳
This is the first book in my next series, which is eight books long (I have one paragraph summaries for each).
I'm so excited to share this story with the world. Now to read it through on my kindle before deciding if I want to query it (again) or not. The editor I had for The Way of the Wielder series is a lit agent, so I may have an in there. Stay tuned!
What does trust mean to you? For this week's #journalprompt write or think about what it means to trust a person, a process, a system, yourself. Apply it to fiction if that's your focus, and explore how trust, and the lack of it, can influence relationships, stories, and lives.
Isa entered the common room of the Tori, the aftermath of a restless night deeply imprinted on her face.
"Hrrmmmm." She wagged a tired hand at Rip, who had just filled a pouch with fresh coffee. They looked at the pouch longingly, grumbled, then tossed it at Isa and refilled the brewer.
A minute later, they joined Isa at the table.
"Couldn't sleep?" Rip held out a cookie.
"Every time I closed my eyes, I saw Ada's face with those sad eyes." Isa sighed. "How is she?"
"She's fine." Rip sipped their coffee. "She's the most resilient being I've met. And I had pet water bears."
"Didn't look fine." Isa looked at Rip warily.
"She knows how to deal with her shit." Rip shrugged. "When she needs to be angry and sad, she is, and when she needs to be strong and focused, she will be."
"How do I do that?" Isa asked, her voice tired.
Rip shook their head. "No idea. You'll have to ask her." They kneaded their coffee pouch. "She's in the infirmary right now, waking up Surya."
