#WritersCoffeeClub 1Apr—What arrangement of plots do you have? No plot? Only one? A main plot & side plot? Something else?

For a series, there's a plot for each book and the series as a whole. The former is always wrapped up prior to its end, while the latter spans across all books.

For standalone books, there's only one main plot, maybe a side plot for funsies.

This is, of course, putting aside each MC's arc, which is interwoven with the other plots. You know, to keep it interesting. 😇

I'm really enjoying re-learning German! 🤗

I would like to continue learning after our trip as well. The app I use (Pimsleur) has 5 levels, but after that, I'm not sure where to go for advancement and practice.

German friends: any recommendations? I'm interested in reading and speaking, so any easy to read German books (likely for kids) are welcome!

Vielen danke! 🙏

#WordWeavers 31Mar—Share or tell us about a fun scene you recently wrote.

I'm rewriting Rise of Iron (the first book in my next series), so everything is fun! But I just got to this scene, and I chuckled.

Context: Vince (the MMC) is conversing with Jameson (a recurring SC) about Emery (the FMC). Jameson got to know Emery a bit as they traveled to the capital together, but Vince has only seen her.

The humor in this series is a bit drier than TWOTW. 🤭

#WritersCoffeeClub 30Mar—What got in the way of your writing this month?

Publishing a book. 😅

#WordWeavers 29Mar—How big is your cast of characters?

With my new series, there will be 10-12 recurring characters throughout, but each book will only have 2-4 POV/narrating MCs. I'm currently rewriting book one, which only has two POVs: Emery and Vince. All recurring characters are introduced in this book.

My standalone book has a much smaller cast, with only two MCs, and two, maybe three SCs. Plus a cow. 🐮

#WritersCoffeeClub 29Mar—Share one of your writing milestones.

My MIL works in a school. I donated copies of my MG story, which many kids have read/are reading. Recently, I was invited to speak to her class about it.

The kids asked a bunch of questions about the story itself, and writing in general. I even helped them with their own narrative assignments.

Two weeks later, I got an envelope of thank you notes from the students. Some even drew the characters. I'll cherish them forever. 🥰

After nearly 1 million words written, my husband decided it was time for me to get a new laptop! (To be fair, the index finger locator nubs were basically worn to nothing, and the rose gold finish under my wrists was rubbed away... 😅)

Anyway, with a new laptop also comes new stickers! 🥳

I only had the bottom right sticker before, but my husband got me several others (he's such a stud). Which one is your favorite?
