"Eclipse" is an interesting word. It can be a noun or a verb. It can refer to an astronomical event or something else. If you follow astrology, eclipses are a sign of change.
I bought this shirt in NY when there to view one.
When it comes to writing fiction, something always has to change within a story, a character, and so forth. This week's #journalprompt is to select a character or event and write about what it was like, before and after a major change occurred.

Hi friends: I snapped this picture during the magic hour (before sunset) last week and wanted to share it. I love birds and this one seemed to pose just for me.
It's an overwhelming time for a lot of reasons, so my only advice for this week's #journalprompt is to write, take pictures, call a friend, do an art project, or find a way to stay grounded.
Take excellent care of yourself!

Today's #journalprompt revolves around meaning. There's a book called The Language of Flowers that tells what certain flowers "mean."
Pictured here is my holiday cactus... it reminds me of one my grandparents had for many years.
The meaning of its flower is "unexpected gifts." I like this for a number of reasons, but mostly because it's up to the person seeing this message to decide what unexpected gift they've received. This week, write about an unexpected gift.

Today's #journalprompt is related to something that surrounds us all the time: music. How does it inspire you? How does it fit into a scene or a habit or an activity you enjoy? How does it set the tone for a scene?

Playing and listening to music creates a type of outlet we all need. What are your favorite types of music and songs? #writingcommunity #journaling #music

Sometimes you get way more than you bargained for or expected.
Today's #journalprompt has to do with exactly that. How do you deal with situations that grow larger than you anticipated?
Keep in mind, these can be good or bad.
FWIW I moved south to get away from snow, but unfortunately it followed me here. However, too much snow on the ground is giving me time to work on music, writing, and other hobbies. Also, I'm eating well. Ha ha ha.

Ever read The Handmaid's Tale? Ever take a Latin class? If so, you might know what this means.

This is a phrase that works for the current mood. That's all I'm saying.

This week's #journalprompt is to write about all the things you do to prevent the bastards from getting you down. #illigitiminoncarborundum

What's your theme for 2026? That's what this week's #journalprompt is about.
Around new year's, I did a meditation to try to relax, and usually I just sit with my eyes closed to do this. However, as I meditated, a yellow butterfly just showed up in my conscious mind.
To me, butterflies symbolize freedom, joy, and transformation. What better theme for a new year?
A friend of mine gave me this picture. I used to see these butterflies in California. #journaling #writingcommunity

What won't you miss about 2025? That's today's #journalprompt

A little background: my employer had stuff to give away, but not enough to give everyone a present, so we had to put our hands into a box and pull out a note that read either "No" or "Yes." If it said Yes, you could go pick a present from a pile they'd set up.

I picked this note and added "more 2025."

Happy new year, everyone. We've run out of 2025. How does it feel? #writingcommunity #journalprompts #happynewyear2026

Happy winter solstice! For those in the northern hemisphere, it's the shortest day of the year, and longest night. A new cycle starts now!
For this week's #journalprompt, think or write about what you appreciate about the change of season, the chance to start a new year, and the opportunity to slow down as the current year ends. #journaling #writingcommunity #happywintersolstice
Today's #journalprompt is to cook something or to describe some food that appears in whatever you're writing... and because the topic of "getting more turmeric in your diet because your joints hurt" came up at a book event today, I'm sharing this recipe.
It'll be cold tonight for much of North America, it's time to cook and eat something that'll keep you warm!
Buon appetito!
