Ich erlebe das von Mo-Fr im Büro, was passiert, wenn Windows so wenig Speicher hat und ich mache nichts so besonders herausforderndes am Rechner.

Ich habe mal wieder eine Frage zur Computer- bzw. Druckernutzung: Auf meinem Windows 11 Rechner muss ich jedes Mal, wenn ich einen Druckauftrag gebe, die Druckerwarteschlage löschen, denn es wird mir immer angezeigt, dass kein Drucker installiert wäre. Wenn ich dann unter "services.msc" in die Druckerwarteschlage gehe, muss ich den Dienst immer aktiv neu starten, dann geht's wieder - obwohl ich bereits als Starttyp "Automatisch" ausgewählt habe.
Hat jemand eine Idee?

Part of the reason I've been quiet in the last few weeks is that I've abandoned #Windows again!

I had moved to #LinuxMint 17 around 2015 and later upgraded to 19 after I'd managed to trash a new upgraded #Win10 machine. (My fault! I played - badly - with the only admin user account which made the machine inaccessible.)

When I bought an "Amazon Refurbished" #Dell Optiplex 7010 box I returned to Windows and got used to Win10. I'd paid for Windows so thought I ought not waste my money. In the UK, at least, MS allows to to carry on getting security updates for free, but time is running out on that offer, I believe, and my Optiplex is not upgradable to #Win11.

I'm still having to re-learn a few things but, other than Windows itself, the last Microsoft product I used was Office2000, Everything since then has been open source and available on Linux, so it's been pretty painless.

I'm very curious to see how this #Ubuntu #Linux pivot being an OS for the agentic era goes.

#Win11 gets worse and worse each update. But I also feel like I can't just switch to Ubuntu because I don't know what's going to be baked in. 😕

If it's opt-in and kill switched, great. If it's baked in and hard to pull out, is it really better???

It's like the coreutils move to #Rust. Might it ultimately be more safe? Yes. But it was bungled *badly* in these first stages.

Is there a source for cleaned up image for #Win11 in #proxmox ?

Will provide my own license key, but the procedure to set it up in Proxmox doesn't look like fun to me. Furthermore you need to spend hours with Win11 to remove all the crap that comes with it.

I still have 2 Windows Apps I cannot get completely rid of, but want to throw out the PCs that run it. My Proxmox has power to spare and the Windows will only run very rarely....
