No conocía #obsidianOS... al parecer está basada en @archlinux (no hay mucha info en le sitio, la verdad).

Y utiliza A/B Partitioning... se ve interesante para hacer algunas pruebas 🤔

ObsidianOS Review: A New, Innovative Linux Distro Built Around A/B Partitioning

The idea to rollback via two root partitions is interesting. This is certainly not your regular rethemed Arch distro.

It's FOSS
@xameer #GNU Mes, if trustworthy, can be used as a starting point to rebuild everything else from source code, giving you much greater confidence that the source code is an accurate representation. GNU Mes can in turn be used to bootstrap an entire distribution, and in particular is used to bootstrap GNU Guix (a complete operating system). But how can you be sure that the executable of GNU Mes is trustworthy? That seems like a chicken-and-egg kind of problem.

I am not revealing it yet, but here is a hint: For my next video, I am going to focus on one of my favorite applications that I have been using since I discovered it. I love that it is still getting lots of support and it is inclusive. I am going to show how to use it with bash and fish.

The upcoming video will be better planned than my last few. I am seeing my mistakes and I want to improve on them.

I'm usually an emoji hater, but #GDB 17(?)'s use of emojis is nice.

Ko-Fi really wants me to make an account on the hell site, but I’m drawing a line in the sand.

As a disabled and omnisexual creator, I refuse to spend my energy in a place that feels increasingly hostile to my communities just for the sake of self promotion. I believe we can build successful brands right here on the #Fediverse without compromising our ethics or our safety. 🏳️‍🌈 ♿️

I am here to focus on what I love: GNU/Linux, open source, and high-quality ethical technologies. Speaking of things I love... I’ve officially set up a Ko-Fi goal to support my caffeine addiction! ☕️

I’m a bit of a coffee snob—even brewing at home is getting pricey with tariffs and inflation. If you appreciate a queer, disabled perspective on the #Linux world, I’d love your help reaching my $50 goal!

One for fellow #ARM #Thumb and #gnu #binutils users...
Say I want to load the value "0x22000000" into R3.

Using "LDR R3, =0x22000000" drops the 32bit value in the literal pool, which encodes to 6 bytes.
A better encoding is: "MOVS R3, #0x88, LSLS R3, R3, #22" which saves 2 bytes.

Is there a pseudo-op or macro to generate the best possible encoding with GNU AS?

(I've been spoiled by RISC OS assemblers which kinda can, but now I'm writing code which others need to be able to assemble...)

Just finished a look into the brand new @elementary OS 8.1!

Is the move to Wayland by default (Secure Session) ready for prime time? Yes, yes it is. I walk through the installer, test out the new workspace switcher in the dock, and check out the new monitor and other apps.

If you are looking for a polished, Ubuntu 24.04 based experience, this release has a lot of polish to show off. Great for new users!

pkgforge is a very promising project.

It uses a package manager called Soar to create centralized repositories for AppImage, FlatImage, static binaries, and more. It installs them into their own directories with checksum verification and transparent build logs.

I love the idea of a central hub for all these portable formats. It makes things so much easier for the user.
