With age the immune system becomes weaker making the body more vulnerable to infections, partly since the body produces fewer and weaker T cells. In experiments with mice, now researchers managed to temporarily boost the production of T cells by using mRNA technology. See http://www.neat-news.com/3492.php. #TCell #mRNA #immune

Off-the-shelf cancer vaccine elicits strong immune response in patients with pancreatic and colorectal cancer

The findings, published in Nature Medicine, show that the vaccine can trigger powerful and lasting immune responses and may help prevent or delay cancer recurrence in high-risk patients whose tumors are driven by KRAS mutations.

Research participants wanted for a study called "Hormonal Regulation of T-Cell Genomics" by the Darlington Lab in the Department of Health, Kinesiology & Applied Physiology at Concordia University.

The goal of the study is to understand how hormones influence the immune cells which play an important role in health. The study consists of one visit of approximately 30 minutes to give a small amount of blood.

Today is international #LongCovid Awareness Day

Check this canadian interview with a Mount Sinai (NY) chronic disease specialist. Up to one in five people with COVID-19 develop LONG COVID, meaning three months after having the disease they still do not recover their full abilities.

The specialist affirms that each reinfection, even moderate, of COVID-19 subtracts between 2-6% of IQ.

LONG COVID is a disease that causes systemic damage, especially to the immune system, causing T-cell exhaustion and triggering latent diseases or exposing the body to new pathogens from which it would have been able to defend itself before. Worth a listen:

Beyond long COVID — how reinfections could be causing silent long term organ damage

It’s now been five years since the COVID pandemic stopped the world in its tracks. The virus is still with us, and continues to make people sick. As many as 1 in 5 Canadians have experienced symptoms of long COVID, but scientists are finding that beyond that, each infection can also lead to long term silent cellular and organ damage. David Putrino, who’s been studying COVID’s long term effects at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City, says even mild or asymptomatic COVID infections can lead to a wide range of silent long term heath impacts — compromising our immune, vascular, circulatory, renal, metabolic, gastrointestinal systems and even cognitive function.
